Rope Masters and Kinbaku History

Kinbaku History: Rope Masters of Japan

Published in 2000 by Sanwa, this volume contains an amazing comparative look at 7 of Japan’s top bakushi: Randa Mai, Akira Naka, Masato Marai, Hige, Shikou Sima, Akechi Denki, and Chimuo Nureki.

This collection presents some of the most interesting portraits of very different styles of rope and gives insight into the history of Japanese rope bondage at the turn of the millennium.  The photography is also very high quality and consistent across a range of approaches.

Interesting both as a collector’s item based on the variety of ties as well as an important historical work documenting the history of kinbaku in Japan.
